2003 IT Corporate Roundtable Annual Award for Excellence Winner

2003 IT Corporate Roundtable Annual Award for Excellence WinnerThe Goal of the IT Corporate Roundtable is the creation of an ongoing forum built on the basic principles inherent to the benefits realized through productive producer/consumer relationships, in a neutral environment operable at the policy level, which is difficult to achieve when housed in either the public or commercial sectors.

Last year, for the first time, The Forum presented the first IT Corporate Roundtable Annual Award for Excellence. That first award was The Forum's recognition of a Roundtable member, nominated by peers, that exemplified pursuance and commitment to the goal and objectives of the IT Corporate Roundtable. Last year that award went to Gartner for its unselfish work to provide assistance, expertise and many hours of hard work related to The Forum's offering of Business Continuity Planning Seminars for NY state and local IT staff (nearly 1,000 persons attended those seminars) and the development, testing and ultimate online release of the "Business Continuity Health Check" which remains as a unique national tool yet today.

This year, The Forum is pleased to award the second IT Corporate Roundtable Award for Excellence. This year The Forum's program was rich and dynamic. The diversity and energy that is the foundation of Forum's educational and research initiatives are derived from the leadership and members of its various committees. Last October, as he began his tenure as Chair of the Forum's Executive Committee, Gene Pezdek suggested that new committees might benefit from the perspective of Roundtable members who might have interest and expertise in the committee focus area. At that time it was decided that new committees would be co-chaired by a public and corporate team and that was the case for the newly created Business Continuity Planning Committee and the Project Management Community of Practice.

A common element to both of those committees is the expertise, energy, creativity, and unusually high level of organization demonstrated by Joann Dunham of Keane. Joann and her co-chair Nancy Mulholland were instrumental in the collaborative effort the Forum undertook with OFT to maintain and expand upon the excellent project management work OFT had developed over the last 2-3 years. The Project Management Community of Practice is an embodiment of an excellent partnership with OFT and the focused energy of that group's leaders to sustain the collective expertise and method for sharing it through a jointly administered website. Similarly, the Business Continuity Planning Committee has enjoyed a healthy start which began with a survey of state agency staff to identify critical issues to which the committee might focus its attentions. Joann Bomeisl and Joann Dunham co-chair that productive committee that is carving out a rich agenda in the business continuity and security arenas for 2003-2004.
