Current Position:
Information Security Officer for NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
Twenty-five plus years Information Technology professional with various NYS Agencies. Currently the Information Security Officer at OASAS. Experience prior to OASAS included the Office of General Services including their first state-wide Office Automation Project and the NYS Attorney General's Office's first automated Case Management System.
Information Management Interests:
The successful integration of a web based infrastructure and traditional Information Technology transaction based processing as a means of substantially improving the delivery of services in the Public Sector. The use of Information Technology to improve the delivery of services by both local governments and Not for Profit's funded with public money. Successful integration of new technologies. Importance of Strategic Planning to successful IT Management.
Previous Forum Involvement:
A founding member of The Forum Webmasters' Guild and the co-chair since its inception. Recipient of two NYS Forum Best Practice Awards; ex-officio member Forum Executive Committee; Member of several Forum working groups including: Development Team for Successful Web Communications Training Series, Accessibility Validation Tool Working Group, OFT/Forum Managed Care/Human Services Work Group. The Webmasters' Guild recently celebrated its 10th year of providing a medium for public sector web professionals in NYS to meet, share ideas and acquire new skills that allow them to improve the web sites of both state and local government in NYS. The Webmasters' Guild averages a monthly program attendance of between 75 and 100 attendees. In addition, the Guild has consistently provided leadership in the establishment of standards and the introduction of new technology for the public sector. The members of the Guild have been leading advocates for ensuring that state web sites are accessible to all of the citizens.
