Old Business:

  1. Validation Tool Status
    1. Training
      1. Hands-on - The last hands on training was held on March 26-27th in the OFT Training Academy.
      2. WebEx - Desktop user training needs to be scheduled for Agency Administrators.
      3. We will be demonstrating the tool for the CIO Council's Performance Measurement Team on 4/18. Paul Maguire will introduce the tool and Debi Orton will provide a demonstration of the online tool for the group.
      4. OFT is opening up a Wiki to solicit comments on the Policy and Standards for State Agency web developers and vendors with the recommendations for changes.
  2. Past Presentation
    1. An Introduction to Web Accessibility presentation was conducted on 3/26 and approximately 200 people attended the training. The plan was to provide a hands on demonstration of the Validation Tool, unfortunately the hands on portion of the training failed, as the tool was unavailable.
    2. A survey was completed after the training and 22% of the respondents were program people, rather than IT people. The program was rated on average 4.25 on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest. The presenter was rated on average 4.55 on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest. The content was rated on average 4.17 on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest. Out of 40 respondents, 38 (95%) agreed or strongly agreed with the statement "this seminar was relevant to my work." The presentation met the expectations of 92.5% of the respondents.
    3. When we first began monitoring statistics, compliance was at approximately 25%. In three months, we have nearly doubled that figure.

New Business:

  1. Validation Tool Audit -
    1. 138,271 total files have been tested.
    2. 63,420 total files passed (45.9%).
  2. Upcoming Presentations:
    1. AT Expo on 5/15: Topics are Validation Tool / Accessible Web 2.0.
      1. Mike Short will present an a.m. session on the NYS Standard and the Forum validation tools.
      2. Arne, Mike H and Jeff Bennett will support the Accessible Web 2.0 session. Arne will present on RSS and Forms. He will be providing use cases to better understand scripting with the goal being to encourage people to do things a better way. Arne will be demonstrating two things that look alike; one coded accessibly, one not coded accessibly, utilizing different formats. Jeff Bennett from OFT will also assist with this presentation by demonstrating the problems caused for people using screen reading software when accessibility is not addressed.
    2. CIO Council Subcommittee on Performance Measurement meeting has been postponed until 4/18. The Validation tool will be demonstrated and the outcome may require some tweaks to reporting. A reporting interface has already been released for agency admins.
    3. NYPA had requested a Downstate session on Validation tool. Greg has asked us to hold off to see if potential sessions could be combined with other downstate events.
    4. Customer Appreciation Session for MicroKnowledge on Validation Tool - Needs to be scheduled
