2006-2007 Accomplishments

  • Email Archiving and Document Management: In November 2006, the MATRIX committee hosted a seminar on E-mail Archiving and Message Management best practices. Glass House and Computer Associates Inc. supplied subject matter experts and the State Archives office presented the status of NYS law. The event was attended by over 100 State employees responsible for records management and discovery process.
  • IT Skills Survey Results: In December 2006, the MATRIX committee hosted a seminar to present the results of the NYS IT Workforce Skills Assessment Survey. The NYS CIO's Office, the Governor's Office of Employee Relations and the Office for Technology conducted an IT Workforce Skills Assessment Survey which was administered by the Center for Technology in Government to help focus the training needs of the State IT Workforce. The half day seminar in December presented the results of that survey and the CIO Council - Human Resources Committee discussed their recommendations and how they will benefit both NYS IT Professionals and NYS as a whole.
  • NY State Forum Committee Overview: In June of 2007, the MATRIX committee hosted a session that included representatives of each of the 10 Forum Committees. They outlined the opportunities and activities of each committee. The session was targeted at mid-level and new NYS IT Professionals. The intent of the event was to encourage increased participation in Forum activities and to increase awareness of the resources that the Forum makes available. An average of five new members volunteered for each of the 10 Forum Committees.
  • Discussion of Mission and Goals: The MATRIX committee discussed the identity and unique niche for its purpose. The committee did agree that one of its main goals was to provide informative and instructive programs targeted at all of the IT professionals within NY State. An effort is being made to acquire a comprehensive list of all such individuals and to update and improve the accuracy of current listserves.
