IT Procurement Committee Initiatives and Accomplishments

2004-2005 Key Committee Accomplishments

  • February, 2005: Symposium on Negotiating IT Contracts - This educational program provided 200 legal, fiscal and CIO attendees with a 2-day educational program co-sponsored by the NYS Forum Procurement Subcommittee and the Office of the CIO. The program was designed to provide a 360 degree view of IT contract terms and conditions and perspectives of the public and private sectors on terms and conditions in NYS IT Contracts. 200 people attended, 60 attorneys received continuing legal education credit, 38 speakers presented, 13 representing Corporate Roundtable Members.
  • April, 2005: Presentation to Forum IT Corporate Roundtable on vendor responsibility, EO 127 and Procurement Stewardship Act - Assembled panel of government members presented to NYS Corporate Roundtable Members on various timely topics and discussed best practices regarding procurement.
  • May, 2005: Presentation to Forum Executive Committee on RFP Process - Assembled panel of corporate roundtable members presented to NYS Executive Committee and discussed best practices regarding the RFP process.
  • June, 2005: Presentation to Forum Executive Committee on Lessons Learned and Best Practices for Doing Large Scale IT Projects - Assembled panel of corporate roundtable members presented to NYS Executive Committee and discussed best practices regarding large scale IT projects.
  • September, 2005: TBD Complete Survey of Corporate Roundtable Members for suggested improvements to procurement process in NYS - Working with OGS to craft and disseminate survey to be incorporated in larger OGS initiative for review of procurement contracting laws, rules and regulations.

Projected 2005-2006 Initiatives

  • September, 2005: Symposium on Sarbanes Oxley Impact in Public Sector - This educational program will provide 200 legal, fiscal and CIO attendees with a public and private sector interactive panel on the impact - real and imagined - of Sarbanes Oxley. (12)
  • February, 2006: 2006 Procurement Symposium - This educational program will provide legal, fiscal and CIO attendees with additional educational programs on all areas of procurement, including best practices in large scale IT procurements, updates on Sarbanes Oxley and other pertinent procurement laws. (1)
  • 2006: Survey of Corporate Roundtable Members Regarding OGS Contracting Template, Appendix B - Coordinate corporate review and comments regarding standard state terms and conditions. (4)

    • Lobby training re: state policy (10)
    • Develop a tactical primer on risk mitigation as it pertains to contract procurement
    • Explore merits of awarding long term contracts (2)
