Forum IT Procurement Committee November 2007 Meeting Minutes

November 29, 2007 Meeting

The IT Procurement Committee meeting was held at the Forum Offices on State Street on November 29, 2007.

Present were Greg Benson, Art Brown, George Mitchell and via conference call, Lisa Greene Maybee.

First Item

First Item: A discussion about setting regular monthly meetings. George Mitchell mentioned that since he was in transition between two employers that he cannot define his future schedule so it might make sense for Lisa and Art to check their calendars and set a specific date and time each month to meet.

Second Item

Second Item: A discussion of the IT Procurement Mailing List. Since the Procurement Committee had not met regularly last year there was discussion that the individuals that currently appear on the IT Procurement Committee distribution list may not be interested or available to attend the committee meetings. It was agreed that we would just send out the existing list and ask individuals if they wanted to be removed. We would announce at the next ITCR meeting that we would be happy to add any interested party to our list so e can advise them of committee meetings and events.

Third Item

Third Item: A discussion regarding IT Procurement Committee Presentations. Each year the IT Procurement Committee sponsors two major events - "Doing Business in New York State", and "IT Contracting Symposium".

Both sessions were well attended last year but it was discussed that there would be difficulty replicating the IT Contracting Symposium this coming year because OFT (who had done the majority of the work in delivering this session) because of the departure of Susan Zeronda has no person identified willing to take on the responsibility of spearheading this event.

With regard to the Annual Meeting's 2007-2008 Projected Initiatives there was strong desire to conduct a session to clarify EO8 (Minority and Woman Owned Business Participation in State Contracts). It was determined that before moving forward with this initiative the Forum would wait until after the December 7 ITCR meeting where Michael Jones-Bey, New York's Minority and Woman's Business Development Director, will be addressing the roundtable.

Next Meeting

Next meeting will be scheduled when a regular meeting schedule is determined. The Committee will keep Milena informed when a decision is made.
