Security/IAM Committee meeting

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

  • Webcasts
    • The next web cast is scheduled for December on the topic of Botnets. The committee co-chairs are working with CSCIC to finalize presenters.
    • Chris Labatt-Simon will prepare an email for broad distribution to solicit potential topics for the 6 web casts to be scheduled for 2008. Potential topics mentioned were Security Training & Broadband.
  • Updates were made to the committee section of the Forum website and links were added to CSCIC and to the OCIO Trust Model.
  • Dr. Anthony Cresswell, Acting Director of the Center of Technology in Government, has agreed to do a session on Return on Investment, or in the case of security - cost avoidance. It is now scheduled for meeting room #2 on Feb 6, 2008. JoAnn Bomeisl is to solicit additional speakers on this topic to fill out a panel.
  • The committee is also interested in sponsoring some additional informational morning sessions on security topics. A couple of speakers were mentioned & some ideas will hopefully take shape in the next couple of months.

Ongoing efforts:

  • IAM (Identity Access Management) Healthcheck ? the committee is hoping to move forward with an interactive healthcheck, akin to the former business continuity healthcheck, with the information based on the Trust Model document on the OCIO web site. Laura Bonacio is to contact our Gartner representative to see if they can offer some assistance. As with the earlier healthcheck, this one would have links to more information based on topical area.
  • Assuming success of the IAM healthcheck or to supplant it, the committee would like to target a session on IAM in the late spring (June) time frame highlighting the significance of IAM to every facet of government (Why Do I Care?). The target audience would be non-IT managers.

Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 30, 2008, conference call. It is a goal of the committee to resume regular monthly meetings, excluding the month of December.
