Upcoming OGS & NYPA Energy Projects
Michael Rooney, Energy Conservation Technical Specialist, NYS Office of General Services
The topic of my presentation will cover the explanation of the upcoming OGS NYPA Energy Service program project at the Empire State Plaza as it relates to the Steam Turbine and Condenser Tube replacement. The discussion will include a basic explanation of the Central Air Conditioning Plant and how future energy project will enhance the efficiency of the plant for years to come.
Mike Rooney holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Businesss Management from Empire State College. He is currently an Energy Conservation Technical Specialist at the NYS Office of General Services(OGS). He has been employed by OGS for more than 28 years and has worked for Utilities Management encompassing a wide range of mechanical experience. The majority of Mr. Rooney's experience has been gained by working at the Empire State Plaza, State Campus Office Buildings and Sheridan Avenue Steaam Plant. Mike is currently involved in overseeing energy related projects for OGS and has multiple years of experience in the supervision, maintenance and operation of power plants, including Sub Station and emergency generating facilities. Mike has been involved in planning, coordinating and implementing all facets of multilayered projects, was once a co-supervisor of the high Voltage crew and has supervised several per-diem electricians as well as several various labor trade contracts employees throughout his career with OGS.
Mike is a member of the Delmar Fire Department as a A firefighter and is a member of the building & grounds committtee for his local parish. Mike is a member of the NYS Forum IT Greening Committee and has served on NYSERDA's '08 and '09 Technical Evaluation Panel.
