This session will review standards from both public and private organizations that identify how to establish and operate a Testing, Training and Exercise (TT&E) program. Session highlights include increasing personnel awareness, defining policy, identifying roles and responsibilities and documenting a TT&E event methodology.

Type of Presentation: Workshop

Creating a successful testing, training and exercise (TT&E) program is vital to ensuring that an organization is prepared to respond to an interruption. Key to execution is adherence to project management principles. The implementation plan outlines the steps to create a comprehensive program. The implementation defines the roadmap for a viable capability, and outlines the approach to maintaining plans and controls, as well as enhancing and managing the capability for improvement. Critical to this is having personnel trained to fulfill their roles and responsibilities within the plan through exercises and employee awareness.

Actual implementation is just as critical if not more so than creating the program. The program should include several types of events to ensure the availability of a wide range of methods for validating various planning elements in the context of business interruptions. Organizations should conduct events periodically; following organizational changes, updates to a business continuity plan, or the issuance of new guidance; or as otherwise needed. This assists organizations in ensuring that their business continuity plans are reasonable, effective and complete, and that all personnel know what their roles are in the conduct of each business continuity plan.

This workshop walks through the process of establishing a TT&E program, including developing policy, identifying roles and responsibilities and documenting a TT&E event methodology.
