Call for Presenters

The NYS Forum is soliciting presentation submissions to be considered for the NYSICA Fall 2017 Conference.

Session Description - Targeted Audience: The NYS Forum is collaborating with the New York State Internal Control Association (NYSICA) for meeting, presentation and knowledge assistance. NYSICA provides training and staff development for member agencies in three areas: professional development, refresher training, and beginner orientation based on the New York State Governmental Accountability, Audit and Internal Control Act. NYSICA serves New York State's agencies, authorities and commissions, as well as a growing web community comprised of over 400 participants from international, federal, state, and local governments.

The NYSICA Annual Conference on Fraud, Integrity, and Controls will be held on November 8, 2016, at SUNY Global Center, 116 E 55th St, New York, NY.

Session Description:

  • The audience will be internal control, risk management and auditing staff from NYS government entities.
  • 100-125 attendees are expected.
  • NYSICA is scheduling speakers throughout the event day. The event planning anticipates 4 or 5 speakers on a variety of topics.
  • A minimum of 50 minutes of content is required within each 90 minute session. Professional Development Units will be awarded to NYSICA members who attend the sessions.

NYSICA has requested speaker submissions on the topics of:

  • Data Analytics - Efficient use of Big Data
  • Data Analytics - Results utilizing heat maps, pivot tables and dashboards
  • Fraud in the Digital Age - How to detect? How to guard against?

All presentations must be vendor neutral. All presentations will be vetted by a group comprising members from The NYS Forum Work Groups hosting this event. Feedback and recommendations regarding final presentation material will be provided by this group.

Presentation Guidelines - Rules of Engagement

  • Presentation must be made using The NYS Forum's Power Point template.
  • Presentations must be vendor and product neutral.
  • Presenter corporate logo and contact information should appear on the first and last Power Point slides only. Corporate logo must not appear on each individual slide.
  • The presenter must discuss the topic at an expert level, and direct the presentation toward the specific targeted audience identified.

Schedule

  • 10/13/2017 - Call for presenters distributed to vendor community.
  • 10/24/2017 - Deadline for proposals from vendors.
  • 10/27/2017- Selection/notification of presenters
  • 11/2/2017 - Deadline for first draft of presenter Power Points and related PLEASE NOTE: All PowerPoint presentations MUST be made on The NYS Forum PowerPoint template which will be provided by the workgroup member coordinating this event.
  • 11/6/2017 - Deadline for final presentation Power Points and related documents (1 week prior to event date). PLEASE NOTE: All Power Point presentations MUST be made on The NYS Forum Power Point template which will be provided by the workgroup member coordinating this event.
  • 11/8/2017 - Event Date.
