Presentation Overview

Innovation is not just a buzz word; every employee regardless of their role in their organization can innovate! The projects featured in the Culture of Innovation in NYC Government Series are examples which allow staff to see why and how others in government have developed innovative solutions in addressing ordinary challenges to the benefit of the people of New York.

Last year, NYC Parks launched the TreesCount! campaign to spark and sustain public engagement and improve urban forest management. The TreesCount! project has many facets - from crowdsourcing data through participatory mapping, to incorporating that geospatial data into daily operations, developing a web app to support public tree stewardship, and civic engagement through Open Data.

Come learn more about the innovative projects NYC Parks has developed into this comprehensive program to fully utilize this new dataset.
