Carol Samol

Carol SamolSince mid-2011, Carol Samol has been directing the New York City Department of City Planning's Business Process Reform (BluePRint), the agency's comprehensive efforts to reform its core land-use and environmental review business processes, which touches every division within the agency as well as outside stakeholders.

Carol also serves as Director of the Bronx Borough Office, a position she has held since 2006. As the Bronx Director, Carol has overseen the comprehensive planning of the South Bronx waterfront and Bronx civic center, major expansion of mixed-use districts to repopulate the South Bronx, promotion of the food industry and jobs, and preservation of neighborhood character in communities throughout the borough.

Carol has more than two decades of experience as a manager, urban planner, international grant maker, and educator. Carol Samol has a BA, English, Berea College, Berea, KY; MA, Philosophy, Fordham University, Bronx, NY; and MUP, New York University, NYC.
