Email Policy Focus Group Session

The appropriate management of e-mail is a complex problem facing many organizations, including New York State agencies. The growing dependence on e-mail as a means of conducting business, combined with new state and federal guidelines, is making it more imperative than ever that agencies manage e-mail responsibly.

The NYS Forum, State Archives, and fellow representatives from other state agencies conducted a focus group session to help develop guidelines on managing e-mail in New York State. Speakers included representatives from the Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination (CSCIC), the Committee on Open Government, and the State Archives, followed by breakout sessions that focused on various aspects of e-mail and its appropriate management.
