Practical Examples in Satisfying Goals for PC Energy Reduction.

Session Overview
Developed and offered by the NYS Forum's IT Greening Work Group

Virtually every state entity or business is attempting to cut energy usage and costs, whether to help improve economic viability or to meet a mandate (eg. State Agencies satisfying OTA guidelines). While the challenges faced in doing this may vary, this seminar will provide the opportunity to hear what steps others have taken to overcome the challenges they faced; from procurement, to measurement, to implementation.

  • Don Greene of the NYS Office of General Services will discuss how Energy savings requirements are included in the specifications for aggregate purchases of desktop and laptop computers.
  • Christian Grieco of Time Warner Cable will present on how to use a low tech process to baseline current energy consumption and project potential energy and cost savings.
  • Brian Duffy of NYS CIO/OFT will discuss the approach that the agency took to implement PC energy management, describe the challenges encountered and lessons learned so far.

Please join us if you are interested in energy and cost savings in your PC environment and especially if you are implementing changes to meet the OTA guidelines regarding this very topic.
