PM Community Of Practice (PMCOP) Meeting: After the Project Charter - Setting up the Proper Environment to Control the Project During Execution

You have just received approval on your Project Charter but even before the ink is dry on the signatures are you planning your next steps. You want the lay the groundwork to ensure your project is a brilliant success before getting overwhelmed with execution activities. You then realize this is the time to begin project initiation and planning activities.

Vivian Conboy, from the NY State Department of Tax and Finance will provide examples and recommendations for setting up the proper environment in order to get and maintain control of your project. Ms. Conboy will cover detailed steps to be taken during initiation and planning in addition to reviewing practices that are currently in use at the NY State Department of Tax and Finance.

Ms. Conboy is the Director of the Project Management Office at the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Prior to joining the Tax Department, Ms. Conboy was a founding member of the NYS Project Management Office at the Office for Technology, and is one of the authors of the New York State Project Management Guidebook. Ms. Conboy previously served as the Director of Applications Development at the NYS Division of Parole and as a Project Manager for the NYS Department of Health. She has over twenty years of experience managing IT projects for the State of New York.
