The NYS Forum PM COP: Spotlight on New York State Projects

Session Overview

We are happy to announce that the next NYS Forum Project Management Community of Practice Meeting will be held on October 5th at the New York State Taxation and Finance facility in Latham.

A recurring format of these meetings is to spotlight a project of general interest either for its impact on the wider state audience, its role as an "umbrella" project that spurs supporting projects in many other agencies, some unique lessons learned, or "simply" an example of good project management techniques and how they contributed to the project's success. This meeting will feature a presentation from the Department of Motor Vehicles on their Facial Recognition Project.

Todd Putorti from DMV will provide an overview of this highly successful project which uses technology to compare the photo image of a driver against all other images on the DMV file. Photo comparison software uses a system of computerized photo comparison to help ensure that people are who they claim to be. The software uses the biometrics contained in a customer's facial photograph. Because no two individual's biometrics are the same, biometric-based identifications are highly effective in combating crime and theft made possible by fraudulent identities. Implementation of the Facial Recognition Project has advanced the Department's goals of program integrity and "one-driver, one-license."

Additional topics will be identified so stay tuned!

You must register to be admitted by security!

Attendees will earn 1.5 PDUs!!!!

Pre-registration is required and available on the Forum's PM COP Event Page
