NYS CIO/OFT Empire 2.0 Center of Excellence Web Site (http://www.empire-20.ny.gov/)

Design, Development, Workflow, and Implementation

Members of the CIO/OFT web team that designed, developed, and implemented the www.empire-20.ny.gov website using Drupal (an open-source and increasingly popular content management web platform) and employing several social media tools (blogs, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and others) will present and discuss how they designed, developed and implemented this website in two weeks. Specific topics covered include:

  • Implementing social media effectively
  • Workflow and content management
  • Design and development using Drupal
  • # Resources for New York State Agencies

The first half (20-30 minutes) of the presentation will focus on the design issues and approaches in bringing together the content and tools to integrate and enrich the site. The second half (20-30 minutes) will take a more technical look at the development and implementation using Drupal with a focus on a how-to approach for anyone interested in learning more about this platform, also used by the White House and NYS Senate. The presentation and discussion will be relevant to anyone involved in any aspect of website design, development, and management. There will be something here for designers, workflow and content managers, programmers and technical developers, even public information officers interested in new effective ways to get the message out.
