Myth-Busting Data Security in the Age of AI

This session challenges long standing assumptions about data security and explains why they no longer hold true—especially in the context of AI adoption. We’ll examine how AI amplifies existing data risks rather than creating entirely new ones, and cut through the noise to focus on practical, modern approaches to securing data in an AI powered enterprise. Attendees will leave with a clear, actionable understanding of how to protect their data without slowing innovation.

Katie Dear - Sr Solution Engineer, Microsoft

Katie Dear is a Senior Solution Engineer at Microsoft with a focus on Microsoft Purview, data security, and compliance. She supports customers in designing and implementing solutions across data loss prevention, information protection, eDiscovery, and more, with an emphasis on secure AI and Copilot readiness in regulated environments. Prior to Microsoft, Katie was a manager in EY’s Cybersecurity consulting practice. She lives in New York City with her family.
