Both Sides Now: Lessons Learned from Navigating NYS IT Procurements from the Vendor Perspective and the State Perspective

Executive Summary: 
This NYS Forum IT Procurement Work Group session will feature Richard Green and Rosanna Grullon in a practical discussion about navigating New York State IT procurements from multiple perspectives, including vendor, consultant, and State government roles.

• Richard Green, Director of Project Management - New York State Office of General Services
• Rosanna Grullon, Director of Technology Bureau, Procurement Operations - New York State Office of General Services

Key Themes:
The presentation will identify a number of key themes which will be explored from a “lessons learned” perspective offering valuable insights to both vendors and NYS staff involved in IT procurements. Themes will include:

• How AI is a game changer for IT procurement
• Some DON’T “Fuhgeddaboudit”s
• Why no one wants to do an RFP
• …….and many more

Attendees can expect a candid conversation on the lessons learned from developing, managing, and responding to IT procurements, with an emphasis on real-world challenges, opportunities for improvement, and considerations that matter to both State staff and vendor partners.

The discussion will explore these focus areas and provide attendees with practical takeaways they can apply when developing solicitations, developing proposal responses, reviewing responses, working with vendors, or navigating the broader NYS IT procurement process.
