Session 2: Python for Data Analytics

Join Jesse Roberts of Amazon Web Services as he continues to provide information on the use of Python.  In Session 1, Jesse covered the benefits of using Python, how to set up an environment to begin using it and the basics of coding. For session 2, he will introduce using Python to work with data.  Jesse will introduce NumPy, Pandas and MatPlotLib and demonstrate how to connect to data sources as well as cover some typical data cleaning and reshaping using real-world data.

Jesse Roberts is a solutions architect with 24 years’ experience as a developer, analyst, DBA, architect and executive. He worked for 20 years at Boeing before a brief data architecture stint at General Electric after which he joined Maximus as an architect and then Vice President of Architecture before joining Amazon Web Services in early 2020. Jesse has a passion for helping others solve problems with IT solutions. Outside of IT, Jesse is a co-founder of the Rensselaer Repair Café and serves on the Board of Trustees for Woodland Hill Montessori School where he is also the makerspace coordinator and teaches students coding and other STEAM skills. He mentors formerly incarcerated students in Python and general coding through the Justice Through Code project at Columbia University’s Center for Justice.
