This session will delve into data privacy, emphasizing the ethical and legal considerations for data collection, storage, and utilization within state agencies. We will discuss relevant legislation regarding state entity privacy, including the Personal Privacy Protection Law (PPPL), and explore how to effectively align your data practices with these legal requirements. To effectively manage data privacy panelist will explain how you must be able to answer the following questions:

• What is the data and who am I getting it from?
• Why do I need it and what do I use it for?
• Who else needs it and why do they need it?
• Where is the data going and how will it be coming back?

Objectives: Understand the Personal Privacy Protection Law, and gain insights into the legal and ethical ramifications of data privacy in government operations.
