Artificial Intelligence Workgroup Developing AI Models: From Data Collection to Model Deployment Level: Advanced This session will guide participants through the end-to-end process of developing AI models tailored to public sector needs. Topics will include data collection and preprocessing, selecting appropriate algorithms, model training, and evaluation. Practical guidance will also be provided on deploying these models in real-world environments, with an emphasis on ethical considerations, avoiding biases, and ensuring model interpretability. Panel Speakers: Máirín Duffy: Máirín Duffy leads the InstructLab and Granite team at Red Hat and is a passionate advocate for the democratization of AI. A recipient of the O’Reilly Open Source Award, Máirín first joined Red Hat as an intern in 2004 and has spent two decades in open source communities focusing on user experience in order to expand the reach of open source. Máirín was born, raised, and educated in New York State. Dan Domkowski: Dan is an AI Platform Specialist mapping Red Hat AI capabilities with the business needs of Red Hat customers worldwide. Previous to Red Hat, he’s held roles in product management, consulting services, and data analytics for SIs, software ISVs, and government alike, including several years in the US Intelligence Community as a computer network operations specialist.Dan holds a MS in Computer Science from The George Washington University and a BA in International Relations from Syracuse University. Dan lives in Amsterdam, NY with his wife, Nickie, and 2 daughters, Dylan and Harlow Jason Nowakoski: Jason is a Red Hat Senior Specialist Solution Architect focusing on Application Platforms and AI. Jason has been at Red Hat for 4 years supporting government customers on their modernization journey. Prior to joining Red Hat, Jason led a application development team for Vanguard. Jason holds a BS in Computer Science from the Stevens Institute of Technology.
