IT Procurement 101 Series These educational events are focused on explaining the key elements of conducting IT procurements within NY State’s public sector. The presentations are targeted to provide useful, practical information for individuals working in IT procurement related roles. Session 1 – IT Procurement 101 BasicsOverview of the laws and regulations governing NYS public sector procurements, and processes / procedures surrounding the NYS procurement process Speaker bio:Randy McConnach is a section head within the Office the State Comptroller’s Bureau of Contracts, responsible for reviewing and approving thousands of State Agency and Public Authority commodity and service contracts worth billions of dollars annually. Before assuming his role as section head, Randy held a number of management positions with the Bureau of Contracts including a manager on the Request for Proposal Team and team leader of the Grant Review team. In addition, Randy has trained thousands of State agency personnel on procurement best practices and OSC document submittal requirements. Before starting his public service career in 2006, Randy worked in private industry as a buyer and contract manager in the technology and manufacturing sectors. Subsequent sessions:Session 2 – Targeted for March - Scope of Work - Review of the best methods / key practices of scoping a potential project, how to go about accomplishing this vital task, and who should be involved. – speaker options being reviewed Session 3 – Targeted for April - Developing a Procurement / RFP- Key components of RFP development, outreach, vendor involvement, methodology.
