Session One:Level Setting - Key Considerations for Cloud Adoption and Implementation in Government

Technology and business needs are evolving into a new era for government - the cloud. Implementation of cloud technology has brought both challenges and opportunities to state and local government and has affected many areas critical to technology services and solutions delivery.

Coordinated as a joint session between FIVE Albany Workgroups, the first session of the "Strategizing, Planning, Procuring and Managing Cloud Services" series featured two presenters who discussed key factors that must be considered when cloud-based applications and services are implemented.

Session One - Level Setting - Key Considerations for Cloud Adoption and Implementation, held in Albany on February 13th, 2020 drew a crowd of over 170 members; 130 of whom were from the public sector including many from NYC. Presenters included Matt ReinkeSenior Systems EngineerNutanix and Tino LeeEnterprise & Solutions Architect, NYC Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications. Both presenters discussed their experiences with implementing cloud-based applications, best practices and lessons learned from implementing cloud for government. They also shared their thoughts on user and identity management, architecture, data management & classification, infrastructure, and security. Matt and Tino also discussed the critical teams that are involved such as IT staff, business and financial analysts, project managers and procurement officials.

The event concluded with an active and dynamic Q & A session involving those in attendance.
